About Me
People Enthusiast
With three decades of experience spanning public communications, diplomacy, and international relations, I have spent my life navigating change in all its complexity – both personally and professionally.
My two years in sunny, liberal California – with a touch of conservative Texas – gave me an unparalleled appreciation for intercultural experiences. My closest friends came from Japan and the Philippines, and my mentor was an American professor in my master’s program.
These encounters have taught me that open-mindedness is essential for meaningful connection.
Life is never a solo journey - and it’s never boring
Life is never a solo journey
For example, one of my random angels was an extraordinary former electrician. He had lost both arms in an accident and received significant compensation, which he used to help others. At one point, in the second year of my studies, he helped me pay my rent. For anyone starting from scratch in the U.S., the struggle of making rent will sound all too familiar.
I hadn’t planned on returning to Romania. After two years in the U.S., it took me another two years to relearn how to live in my native country. Finding professional purpose was tough. I spent about a year navigating the operational intricacies of the Ministry of Labour, serving as a media relations adviser to the Minister.
The Breakthrough
I joined the British Embassy in Romania as Head of Communications – a labor of love that lasted 14 years. Working with four ambassadors, all of them career diplomats, was transformative. It was an environment that challenged me, inspired me, and ultimately shaped how I understand diplomacy, international affairs, and the responsibility of influence. However, Brexit became the political storm I refused to sail through. There are many life lessons from that period, but I’ll save it for editorials on The Spotlight page.
With my newfound freedom came uncertainty. My professional identity had been shaped by my Anglo-American experience, and I wondered what else there was to explore. The journey of self-rediscovery, including a sabbatical period, took me through the EU institutional ecosystem, the private sector, and the non-profit world.
These experiences taught me when to pause and rewind, when to adjust, when to stand my ground and – at times – to defend my personal red lines.
The Radar is the natural culmination of this journey. A tool shaped by everything I’ve learned and practiced along the way.
And here I am. Equipped with a master’s toolset, forged through experience and resilience. Ready to support those who lead, communicate, and make decisions under pressure.
If you’re facing change, complexity, or uncertainty, let’s explore how we can move through it, together.
Testimonials
I am not surprised by the laudatory comments about her.”
In recent years, I learned that Raluca has been trained in executive coaching. Through our conversations, I have been consistently impressed by her deep passion for the field, her keen ability to identify core issues, and her thoughtful, empathetic, and flexible approach to problem-solving.
I fully support her decision to pursue a freelance path and offer my strongest recommendation for her work in this area.”
Years later, I had the privilege of inviting Raluca to speak to my students at the Journalism specialization at Ovidius University of Constanța. Just as she had impressed me years before, she captivated the students with her insights, integrity, and commitment to ethical communication. Her passion for her work and her willingness to share her expertise so generously reaffirm her as a true role model in the field of communications.”
